Further funding for Residential Advisory Service

More funding for the Residential Advisory Service (RAS) means Cantabrians can continue to access free independent advice on their rebuild and
repair issues.

A further $1.2 million has been committed by the Earthquake Commission, the members of the Insurance Council of New Zealand and the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority to keep the service running for another year.

Helping those who are having problems progressing their rebuild or repairs is essential to the recovery of greater Christchurch and the service has been extremely successful with 1600 cases having been progressed or resolved.

Independent advisors can work with the home owners, Earthquake Commission and insurance companies to progress claims or point residents in the
right direction to get their problem solved.

With new resources available such as the technic panel, which can offer a second opinion on existing repair plans and documents, the service now has more ways to provide independent advice to home owners.
